The Stephen S. Goodspeed internship is designed to give one student each year the opportunity to gain experience in higher education administration while developing organizational and leadership skills. Each year’s Goodspeed Intern is strongly encouraged to undertake his or her own self-initiated projects that reflect a personal interest. This aspect of the Goodspeed Internship makes each intern’s experience unique. Some use the internship as a platform to organize campus events and activities, while others use the opportunity for professional development and graduate school planning.
The Goodspeed internship is named for Stephen S. Goodspeed who joined the faculty in 1946, served as vice chancellor for Student Affairs for ten years, from 1960-70, and became vice chancellor of administration until his retirement in 1978. A Goodspeed Memorial Fund was established to support the intern’s programs and professional development.
